
This classic picnic recipe is delicious, fresh, and, best of all, cold on a hot summer day!
Ingredients
1 head of iceberg lettuce, rinsed, dried, and chopped
1 chopped red onion
1 10-ounce package of frozen peas (frozen)
6 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and chopped
Sliced water chestnuts
Sliced tomatoes or halved cherry tomatoes
¼ cup sour cream
¾ cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sugar
1 bunch of sliced green onions
½ lb cooked and crumbled bacon
10 ounces of shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions
Layer the first six ingredients in the order above in a glass bowl, starting and ending with the lettuce.
Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, and sugar and spread over the top, being sure to seal the edges.
Sprinkle cheese, sliced green onions, and crumbled bacon over the top (the bacon can be one of the layers instead of on top).
Cover and cool in the refrigerator overnight.
