Street Tacos (Carne Asada Style)

These street tacos are the real deal—bold, messy, and downright irresistible. Bursting with juicy, marinated meat, fresh toppings, and a squeeze of lime, they bring that authentic “corner taquería” vibe right to your kitchen. Quick to make, impossible to eat just one, and guaranteed to make your taste buds dance.
Ingredients
1½ lbs flank or skirt steak
3 tbsp olive oil
Juice of 2 limes
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small jalapeño, minced (optional)
¼ cup cilantro, chopped
1 tsp each: chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin
1 tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper
For Serving: 12 small corn tortillas, diced white onion, chopped cilantro, lime wedges, and salsa.
Directions
Whisk the marinade.
Marinate steak 1–6 hrs.
Sear/grill over high heat 3–5 min/side; rest 5 min, slice against the grain.
Warm/char tortillas.
Assemble with onion, cilantro, lime, salsa.
A note from Tedd:
This recipe works with chicken, pork, or shrimp.
You should lightly oil/salt the tortillas.
The secret to these tacos is to keep toppings simple.
